Islam
Culture Region- Around 1.6 billion people in the world are Muslim and Islam is the world's fastest growing religion. It's main beliefs are that there is one god named Allah who is the same god of Christians and Jews that chose the prophet Muhammad to show Allah's people the right way to heaven and eternal happiness. Icons of this religion include the crescent moon.
Diffusion- After Muhammad left Earth, his followers began to spread his words all the way from Spain to India in a similar fashion that the apostles did after Jesus went to heaven. The main barrier to Islam was Christianity since the Christians persecuted the Muslim people. The main leader of the religion is Muhammad who is Allah's messenger. The two main sects of Islam are Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims and their difference is over the dispute of who was Muhammad's successor.
Religious Ecology- Similar to Christians, the right thing to do is protect God's creation so Islamic groups participate in charity events despite being not as popular in the west as Christian organizations.
Culture Integration- Throughout the world, celebrations like Ramadan are widely celebrated by the Islamic community while in America celebrations like these aren't so popular due to the tensions between Christianity and Islam that have been going on for the last millennium. Countries where islam is the prevalent religion tend to have an abundance of oil due to their location in the middle east so they greatly affect our daily lives since they control a major expense of America's which is gas.
Cultural Landscapes- The religion of Islam has places of worship all around the world and each of these Mosques has a specific style, usually with domes and spires similar to the Hagia Sophia in a way in Istanbul which is the second most famous mosque in the world behind Mecca which is the holiest place in all of islam.
